The 2010 walk for Autism was May 1st 2010.  This year we had many different fund raisers for the cause.  If you wanted to wear jeans you donated $2 to Autism:o)  We also had a bake sale that was very successful.  Autism Speaks is a charity that is very important to all of us at Independent Living, we see children and families everyday trying to deal with Autism.  The more research that is done the better chance we have at finding a cure.

Photo Contest for Charity! All proceeds will go to Easter Seals.

The walk began Friday morning at 7:45 a.m. at Fort DeSoto Park and ended Sunday at 5:00 p.m. at Spa Beach in downtown St. Petersburg. Aleisha Linck (Clinic Coordinator) & Natalia Lavallee (Medical Records Director) Every year, the Muscular Dystrophy Association sponsors the MDA Lock-Up to help raise money for "Jerry's Kids." The money raised goes towards sending children to the MDA Summer Camp, buy wheelchairs, fund research, and a host of other MDA activities. Participants have warrants issued for their arrest and then have to raise bail (donations), before their court date. This year, Aleisha & Nat were charged with having big hearts and were apprehended on August 6th. After a brief struggle (getting into the limo), they were transported to the "Carrabba's Restaurant" in Carrollwood for booking and a last meal. Luckily, Nat & Aleisha have friends that were able to raise $1705 bail for their release.
